Earlier today, Steve Taylor, the PBA Regional Director for the South Region, made a Facebook thread announcing a cancellation to the upcoming PBA50/60 Mooresville CVB Doubles and the PBA50 Victory Lanes Mooresville Open in the PBA South Regional Tour Group Page.  Citing circumstances beyond his control, many are concluding that this was a direct result of the complaints received by many of the Tour Bowlers regarding a rambunctious birthday party that was occurring simultaneously a few lanes down from the previous PBA Regional held at Victory Lanes last weekend, the PBA Victory Lanes Mooresville Open.  Apparently many bowlers who participated in that tournament took to Facebook voicing their displeasure with the loud nature of the children that were attending a birthday party 6 lanes down from the regional.

Leading further to that conclusion, Victory Lanes Management replied to a thread in the Bowlage.com Facebook group under the Victory Lanes Facebook Profile, claiming that they would "never host another PBA event of any kind ever again" amid the complaints received from the bowlers.  The Victory Lanes Facebook Profile went on to say that the only screaming kids were the "children of the PBA bowlers" that were at the venue watching the regional event.  The Profile went onto say that the center lost upwards of $25K in open bowling revenue due to having to "displace almost all of [their] regular business."

While it cannot be corroborated that this was the reason for the cancellation, based on the events of the previous week's regional, many bowlers assumed this was the reason for the cancellation.  Clearly the center was serious about not hosting any future PBA events at the center.  It remains to be seen whether the cancellation is a one-off thing or whether this year's Mooresville Open will be the last PBA event hosted at the center.
